Seniors Citizens Center
This community facility provides older citizens a means to fulfill social, physical, emotional and intellectual needs. It is a focal point for services to and for older persons, and its programs and activities are designed to enhance the dignity and independence and involvement of the elderly in the community.
Services include:
Daily noon meal
- Transportation
- Special services transportation (door to door)
Fitness and walking program Education classes and seminars Special speakers (Social Security, investments, health topics, etc.)
- Shopping Trips (grocery, mall)
Bimonthly blood pressure check, health clinic (blood sugar, exams, prescriptions, mental health) Flu shots Medicare/Medicaid assistance program Information and referral Monthly newsletter Foot care clinic Volunteer opportunities/recognition Gold Card Tax preparation (federal, state & local) Surplus commodity distribution Library programs and services
If transportation is a problem for Carman-Ainsworth and Flint Township residents, a 10-passenger mini-van is available to provide door-to-door service for most activities at the Senior Center. Call 732-6290 at least one day in advance.
All Carman-Ainsworth residents, retired and 60 years of age or older, are eligible to receive a Gold Card. This card, provided by Carman-Ainsworth Community Schools, entitles the holder to admission to sporting events, plays, concerts, community education activities and other school sponsored events. Applications are available at the Senior Citizen Center.
These services are available to all persons regardless of age.
Activities include:
- Day and extended travel
- Euchre and pinochle
- Potlucks and picnics
- Knitting/crochet
- Drama group
- Line dancing
- Bingo
